Ornaments

I have a cute assortment of ornaments available.  But I do have a limited supply of each. I hope to have a few more styles made. So keep checking back. Prices range from $2 to $6 each.

More Christmas Items

Here are a few more items I have for Christmas. I just love making Christmas Decorations.  I have my Cumberland Santa coming soon. and maybe a few Snowmen in the works.

Wall Hangings for Christmas

I have some assorted wall hangings for Christmas. Candles, Gingerbread, Santas and Snowmen.  Check Needfulls for sizes and prices.

Baby Crib Size Quilts

I have an order for 5 Crib Size Quilts from my most favorite customer, neighbor and friend.  These are all going to be Christmas Presents for the Grandchildren.  I just finished 2 of them.  I'm really starting to get the hang of free motion quilting.  But it does take practice, practice, practice and is very hard on the hands and shoulders.  Hope you like them.

Happy Rainy Day

So I haven't kept my promise and haven't been posting weekly like I wanted to.  But I do have a good excuse.  I have been working every day trying to catch up on orders, so I have time to make new items for my next show.  By the way, the Fall Festival Show was a big hit. And I sold out on all my fall items.  Now I am working on Christmas.  My Flying Angel Dolls Sold out and I am again making more as I already have requests for her.

I also finished an order for Rag Dolls and had to come up with one for my Jewish Friend.  So Hanukkah Harry was born. He's the guy with the white beard and jeans.  Looks to me a little like Moses.

I am also  finishing up some orders for small placemats to fit in your RV, from the Rally we went to.  They should all be shipped out by this weekend, providing the rain stops and the streets in town are not flooded.

Here is a look at one of my new items for the show.  A 10" gingerbread doll.  He can sit on a shelf or you will be able to hang him when I add the wire to his back.

So now you know why I haven't been on line.  But will post more pictures of new items as soon as they are finished.

A Great Week In Mytrle Beach

Our week in Myrtle Beach was wonderful.  We were able to reconnect with long time friends (I don't say old friends, because I don't think we are old), made new friends, and wonderful memories.

We had great meals at the Rally.  Good buffet seafood dinner, Dinner and Show at Medieval Times, found a great pizza joint and then went to a beautiful Gardens with beautiful sculptures, animals and plants.  And of course I found a Quilt Shop.  Now the season for Craft Shows is starting so I will be busy for the next 2 months.  Here are some shots of the Rally.

We had the Black and White Knight and he won!!!!!!!

Tuesday

This morning there was nothing to rush about so I decided to cook breakfast outside on my griddle.  Johnny left for a 10 am seminar and I stayed behind to sweep floors! change linens and be with the dogs while resting my knee. Daisey was a little better and walked farther down the road. No shaking all day and even barking at someone who came to see us.

I still haven't pulled out the machine but hope to do so tonight since I don't have to cook dinner. Did I tell you I sold one of my table runners?   Hope to sell more this week. So I walked the dogs on and off during the day but as it started to really warm up I didn't walk as far.

We are at the afternoon seminars and will go back to feed and walk the dogs then back up here to have a Fried Chicken Dinner. Then I hope Johnny and will ride around for a while and see the sites......

Monday

Our first full day of the Rally was a long one for us. The night before I woke up at 3am when Daisey tried to get out of bed to use her pp pad. This time I was not able to go back to sleep.  For the first time we were late getting up and had 20 minutes to be at the rec center for breakfast. Should have taken our time.  Breakfast was ok and there weren't that many people there.

Last night at the meet and greet dinner the hamburger soup they had was wonderful......hope they post the recipe so I can try it. But I really think I could wing it.  Now talk about a small world.  As we are sitting there eating I'm looking around the room and see a familiar face.  I asked Jim and Sheryl if they recognized him.  Jim did right away.  It turned out to be one of the Sergeants I worked for when I was in 911. So I haven't seen him in over 25 years.

After we were done with seminars the four of us piled in our car and motored out of the resort and almost across the stree to a huge seafood buffet. They even had a mermaid swimming in a pool inside the resturant. Lots of very good seafood to choose from, plus a carving station and salad bar.  Sheryl and I were celebrating our birthdays both in September so we picked where we wanted to go.
We returned to our campsite and Sheryl and I hopped in the golf cart because we had a date with a Bingo Game.  I was so excited. I haven't had a chance to play Bingo since I left Florida.  When we got to the rec center it was cancelled.  So we decided to take a tour around this huge complex.  What a site...just beautiful beach homes, one after the other.

My evening ended late and once last walk for the dogs and I was ready to hit the sack.  See you in the AM.

Day One Of Our Rally In Myrtle Beach

Hubby and I left on Saturday for Myrtle Beach. We will be attending an IRV2 Rally for the week. We are staying in Ocean Lakes RV Resort right on the beach.  This place is huge. Not only does it house hundreds of RVs, but it has beach homes, condos, a huge grocery store, deli, rec center and the works.

We spent Saturday night in Florence and it poured the entire night. Sounds like a repeat of our last trip.  Daisey starting stressing again and we just don't know what to do for her.  I gave her pain meds and she seems to do much better after it kicked in. This morning she ate and seemed normal.....then we walked the two girls to the beach and they were not happy. Seems the waves and sand scared them...so now Daisey is not eating her dinner and back on the couch.  I think I will continue her meds during the day to help her out....

It's been very overcast today and cool, but so far no rain.  We are awaiting the arrival of friends who will be attending the rally too. Should be any minute....so for now I'm going to sit outside and wait for them.....

They finally arrived. We all drove up to the rec center so they could sign in and then we went to rent golf carts.  Now for sure you know it's going to rain. Now we will be attending our meet and greet dinner and our first night of the Rally will be over.  Time is already passing by fast. The salt air smells good. A big difference from smelling the wooded area we live in.

Good Sunday Morning

Good morning to everyone. Hope you are all having a great start to a wonderful day. I have been very busy this week.  As you know I had a Table Runner Class Friday and we had a great time. As a surprise I showed the girls how to make an easy Christmas Ornament. Then we jumped into our Table Runner.  I provided the squares for them to choose from and we created a table runner and table toppers. See classes for more photos.

Now I have 4 weeks left till my first one day show.  So I am busy creating ornaments, runners, dolls, etc.  Here is a peak at one of the Rag Dolls I'm making.  Sizes, styles, and embellishments will determine the price.  Each is a One Of A Kind so no orders, just first come first serve.

Sold

I am also busy working on some cute ornaments and a few Primitive Fall items.  So keep coming back to see what's next.

What a Chair

Here is a beautiful upholstered chair I saw in my travels.  Vintage quilts were used to recover this chair.  And boy was it comfy.  Wish I had room for it and wish I could have afforded it.

More Tea Pots

I went to the 127 Longest Yard Sale in search of more Tea Pots to make Cozies for.  My friends Melissa, Livia and Barbara and I drove up to our favorite spot The Cumberland General Store.  This spot has a bunch of vendors with wonderful STUFF. I actually found all the treasures I had on my list right in this area.  Here is the collection of Tea Pots of found.

Now I have to get to work and make cozies for them.  What cute gifts these would make for Birthday, Get Well and Christmas.

What To Do With An Old Brush

What do you get when you take an old brush and embellish it?  Well..................................

You get this adorable Vintage Santa Decoration.....Coming soon to Mountain Laurel Crafts.......

Special Order For Tina

Just finished this special order for my long time friend Tina.  We have known each other for over 25 years.  We worked together when she was a dispatcher and I 911.  We also went to the knit shop together and loved embellishing jeans and jackets years back.  Funny thing is when we retired and moved up to Tennessee, we found out Tina and her husband Woody also moved in the same area as us.  We still get together several times a year and she always comes to my Cookie Swap each December.  Tina loves rabbits and her favorite color is purple.  She even has purple carpeting in her home.  Oh yes she does. So when I saw this fabric I knew I had to make a purse for her. Here it is front ant back.

New Items Added

Again I am making Charm Table Runners.  They can be made to fit any size table.  I also have a variety of fabric combinations to choose from.  Fall seems to be very popular right now.  Get your orders in soon.  I may not be able to fill your order closer to the Holidays.

******************************************************

Check out Primitive Needfuls for more new items. Another ornament and Tea Cozy.  I'm also working on some holiday table runners and a wine caddy. I have a show coming up and just found out the RV Rally we are going to has a one day yard sale.  Hope to have some things to bring.  Especially my RV Placemats and wallets.

I took yesterday off and worked a little in my garden.  It is so overgrown, but only lasted an hour.  My hands are developing arthritis and they just needed a rest.

So instead, I stayed downstairs and did some laundry, made a pot of sauce and meatballs and dough for homemade garlic rolls.  Hubby's uncle use to have several Italian Restaurants years ago and they had the best garlic rolls. I have been trying for years to make them, but I am not a baker and just haven't been able to get the dough right.  So hubby contacted his cousin who was the chef  there and got the recipe.  Well they were a lot better than in the past.  I just have to perfect the dough and I'll be happy.

TGIF and a wonderful day it was

Today is Friday, the end of the week for most.  But when your retired, it seems like every day is a weekend day. I remember when I was working I couldn't wait for Friday.  Then I crammed everything I wanted to do in 2 days. How did I do it all in just a weekend, when now I have 7 days and just don't seem to have enough hours.  I have been busy getting together some of my new items for the  Holidays and here is one of them.   My Tea Pot and matching Cozy.  This one already sold before I could post it but I have a few more in the works and will post them on Primitive Needfuls when they are done.  The fabric is quilted and has a front pocket to store your tea bags.  Some will have an embroidered tea cup, some will have lace embellishments. No 2 will be alike. You will not be able to order them as I will make them as I find the Tea Pots and believe me they are hard to find.  But with the up coming 127 Yard Sale it may be lucky. So keep watching and see what's new.

Hubby and His Smoker/Grill

Hubby has been wanting a smoker for the longest time.  He has talked to so many people about it and researched different styles, and brands.  This is the one he came home with last week. It's a Smokin Brothers Smoker/Grill.  You use pellets instead of wood.
He had to get the next size up from what I said, so most of the food we put in there will look dwarfed.  But when we decide to have company over we will have plenty of room to put quite a bit of food on at one time.  Now we are trying all different meats.  This will be trial and error.  So far we smoked a whole chicken and it came out great.  Today we are trying brisket.  I have ribs and a pork loin to try.  We have different flavor pellets that we need to learn which one for which food. I'll keep you posted as we learn our way thru smokin foods.

Good Morning Everyone

Just a quick good morning to you all before I start working on table runners.  We have a very wet, foggy morning here in Tennessee. Makes for a great time to be upstairs sewing away.  Hope everyone has a wonderful day no matter where you are.

A little bit of humor

When I tell Lacey, my 3 lb Yorkie, I plan to clean her face and eyes, this is the look she gives me.  Don't tell me they don't understand what your saying.....

Sneak Peak

Ok, so I had to do it.  Here is a sneak peak of one of the new ornaments I will have to sell this year.  I don't have prices on them yet.  I have a new method or formula in pricing my items.  So I have to see if I like the way it works.

Aren't they cute.  They are about 5". The face and body are painted. The boy wears a shirt and pants with a hat made from sheet music paper.  The girl has a shirt and matching skirt with an apron and bloomers. Both are adorned with tiny embellishments of greenery, candy canes and berries. She wears a bow in her hair.  Their little arms and legs are made from tiny twigs right from my back yard.

My Asian Lilly

About 12 years ago when I was working on putting shrubs infront of the porch, I decided to plant Asiatic Lilies along the porch wall. Over the years with critters and weather, I have lost most of the plants. But I still have this one faithful plant that comes back every year and this year gave me the best display of flowers. It also perfumes the air when the sun is shinning on it. I didn't have the heart to cut this one so I propped it against my porch railing so it wouldn't break. Now mind you, the porch is over 2 feet above the ground and I am standing on the porch to take the picture. I am face to face with the flowers. So this plant has grown over 4' tall.

Getting Ready for Fall

I just couldn't wait to show you my first 2 fall items.  First is a 60" long Scarecrow Wall or Door Quilt.  He is machine appliqued and quilted. He has buttons, raffia, and jute for his embellishments.

Second is a 4 1/2" x 22" Scarecrow. He is HAND appliqued and has buttons, yarn and jute to embellish him.  Great for small places and makes a good gift.  Coming for the Christmas Holidays will be a Snowman and Santa of the same style.

My New Screen Room Furniture

Several years ago for my birthday, hubby screened in a portion of our back deck for me.  It has 2 entrances to the house. One from my bedroom and one from the great room and a screen door out to the rest of the deck. I had him put indoor outdoor carpeting and I can vacumn it when I want or hose it down.  So this year I finally found a cute outdoor whicker set that fits right in the corner of the room. I even put a side table and a lamp which you cant see, and there is a ceiling fan with lights. A few plants and a throw and I'm ready for my naps.

Around the corner is a small table and 2 chairs so I can eat lunch out there or do some of my crafting when weather permits.  Even my girls like being out there.

A Doe and Her Fawn

Mama has now started to bring her baby around for us to see. She was so nice to pose for my neighbors camera.  Now she is coming in my yard and in a distance in the woods you can sometimes see the fawn running up and down and skipping and jumping while mama feeds. So cute.
